I have been creating art since I was very young. In fact I still have one piece I created when I was 7 years old. I have studied art, design and photography at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Greensboro College and Guilford Technical Community College. Over the years, I have taught a wide variety of art and design courses, seminars and workshops at UNC-Greensboro, Greensboro College, Guilford Technical Community College and Davidson County Community College. I am always inspired by the students and participants to explore new ideas and media.
These most recent works represent a new direction for me away from traditional painting and drawing and trying to approach portraiture, landscape and still life in a more simplistic and minimalist way. I work from photographs I have taken and then deconstruct the image to the most basic elements visually and then begin the process of painting to create the final piece of art.
I have over three decades of experience in the fields of advertising, graphic design and marketing. In my professional career, everyday is dedicated to creative problem solving, so my art process is approached in a similar manner.
I hope you find the work interesting.
